Puma X BWGH

Top-notch photography has always been part of the DNA of Parisian menswear brand, Brooklyn We Go Hard. Strategically combining their love of fashion and photography, in 2011 founders David Obadia and Nelson Hassan launched the company with a collection of graphic tees featuring the work of young Brooklyn lensmen. They quickly expanded to include a full range of garments — knitwear, chinos, sneakers — which led to collaborations with global tastemakers Libertine, Colette and Opening Ceremony, as well as a sweet ongoing partnership with Puma.

But with all of this commercial success, the duo never strayed from their mission of promoting emerging photographers. Along the path to prosperity, BWGH evolved into a creative network rather than just a singular fashion label, launching a magazine and coordinating art exhibitions. The lookbook for their AW14 ‘Joy’ collection with Puma shows just how committed they are to the art of photography. Shot by perennial BWGH favorite Vincent Desailly (with art direction by Obadia), the photo-set draws inspiration from American Expressionism and pairs images of models decked out in the BWGH’s dip-dyed sweaters and color-blocked separates with perfectly-matched architectural exteriors. The images are minimal yet mesmerizing, contemporary but timeless, and like all of the brand’s lookbooks, should provide inspiration for other up-and-coming photo-takers for years to come.
