Could Designers be Seeing More Color Campaigns? Black as the New Black!

Fashion has been lacking color more specifically black models in their runway shows and campaigns, but will it ever really change.

Top model Cindy Bruna is definitely making sure she plays her part. Bruna has been a force on the runway this past season as well as a beacon of hope for colorful aspirations in fashion and possibly similar dichotomies.

This past season has seen Cindy walk for top designers Alexander McQueen, Givenchy, Balmain, Bottega Veneta as well as an exclusive for Calvin Klein.

Steven Meisel recently shot Prada’s Spring 2014 campaign where Cindy is appearing as the second woman of color since Naomi Campbell in 1994. Prada previously cast Malaika Firth for the Fall 2013 Campaign and she will also appear in the full Spring 2014 Campaign.

Cindy Bruna Talks About Industry Progress and her Recent Success in an Exclusive Interview!

It seems like such a big task as designers prefer whites models over models of color and having one or two models of color in a spread doesn’t exactly equate to change. It was nearly a decade before Prada cast a model of color after Naomi Campbell. The industry has been making note and hopefully Black will be the new Black!
