20th Century literature has been the staple of Hollywood 21st century filmmaking. It would be hard to talk about influential writers without speaking about William S. Burroughs and that’s exactly what Filmmaker Howard Brookner did in the 1983 BBC documentary. It took 5 five years to capture the footage necessary for this award winning documentary.
Filmmaker Aaron Brookner, Howard’s nephew, has found his uncle’s lost archive and is set on reviving his Uncle’s Legacy first by restoring and Burroughs: The Movie and then with the production of Smash The Control Machine: Howard Brookner & the Western Lands using much of the found footage.
Young Aaron Brookner is currently campaigning the restoration with Production Co. Pinball London at Kickstarter, a webased crowdsourcing company. Other works by Aaron Brookner includes “The Silver Goat” and “The Black Cowboys”. Burroughs: The Movie has raised just over half of its budget of 20,000 with it campaign ending at the end of the month.
